Compassion in Action

One of our star leadership traits within the JENNABEARS Foundation is compassion.   Simply put, with every accomplishment our organization has made, compassion was the leader.

With your compassionate heart, you too can be a huge part in changing the world for the better.   We are asking everyone to do an act of compassion...from an individual to businesses.

“The world is never saved in grand messianic gestures, but in the simple accumulation of gentle soft almost invisible everyday acts of compassion.”
-Chris Abani

Jenna’s 2nd birthday came on September 11, 2008.   Jenna’s parents wanted to do something special in honor of their daughter’s birthday and began to ponder.   As painful and heartbreaking as it was, Jenna couldn’t open presents or be at her own birthday celebration.   The Eades soon thought of a project that would assist so many other people in need…empowered through the memory of Jenna.

Introducing…

Compassion in Action (COMPACT)

Building a compassionate world, one act at a time.

The COMPACT program was established on 9.11.08.   It is our hope that many will feel compassion for those who are facing difficult times and display an act of compassion.   Furthermore, it is our hope that in receiving an act of compassion, many will experience being supported emotionally and depending on the act, physically and/or financially.

We would love to hear your story if you displayed an act of compassion or if you were the receiver! E-mail us at compact@jennabearsfoundation.org.   If you give us permission, we will post your story on the website! Your story can truly encourage others.

"Compassion is that which makes the heart of the good move at the pain of others.   It crushes and destroys the pain of others.   Thus, it is called compassion.   It is called compassion because it shelters and embraces the distressed."
- Dp.A.193

Finally, practice the 'pay it forward' principle if an act of compassion emerges in your life.   Pay-it-forward comes from the movie of the same title.   It was a system dreamed up by a very wise, very young man who proposed, as part of a homework assignment, if we each did something positive for three other people and asked them to do the same for three other people, in a very short time everyone in the world would be positively affected.

Compassion defined.

Compassion is a profound human emotion prompted by the pain of others.   More vigorous than empathy, the feeling commonly gives rise to an active desire to alleviate another's suffering.   It is often, though not inevitably, the key component in what manifests in the social context as altruism.   In ethical terms, the various expressions down the ages of the so-called Golden Rule embody by implication the principle of compassion: Do to others as you would have done to you.   Ranked a great virtue in numerous philosophies, compassion is considered in all the major religious traditions as among the greatest of virtues.

"You cannot do a kindness too soon, as you never know how soon it will be too late."
-Ralph Waldo Ermerson
